Because of its straight edges, princess cut stones often allow a snug, continuous pave around the band with less metal showing. Some designs use half-eternity (stones around only part of the band) to ease resizing. 
One downside: the sharp corners of princess cuts are more vulnerable to chipping if not well protected in the setting. ([Wikipedia][1])
